On May 31, 2008, our neighborhood, as well as others, were hit by the hardest thunderstorm and hail storm this area has seen in many years.
After the storm, we went outside to asses the damage. Tree limbs were down, and some trees were stripped of their leaves. Many screens on our house were shredded to bits, the siding was damaged, the deck sustained damage. Although our roof was damaged, and there were obvious corners of shingles torn off, it was difficult to asses the over-all damage from the ground.

The next morning, there were a plethora of construction trucks already canvassing the neighborhood, looking to help out the residents with their damage repots. We were inundated with many construction companies wanting us to sign with them on the spot to do our work.

I immediately contacted my insurance company the next business day, and filed an initial claim.
In the days that followed, my wife and I listened carefully to the construction managers we spoke with regarding how to best asses and categorize my damage, and how to interact with the insurance company. We were skeptical of some claims promising us no out-of-pocket monies would need to be spent, or some that told us they could reimburse us our deductible fee.

It didn't take us long to decide on a qualified, low-pressure, straight-talking construction company, Premier Home Improvement.
John and Allen worked closely with us, calmed our fears, and told us straight out how they would approach our repairs. After our initial consultation with our insurance company, Premier took charge and worked directly with the adjusters and claims people with our insurance company. There were 3 separate inspections by insurance agents and Premier that resulted in complete re-siding, a new roof and a completely re-built deck for our home. We were very pleased with the work John and Allen did to facilitate this for us.

Our repair job was detailed for us, and laid out in a precise chronological order. We knew exactly what steps were going to take place and when. All work was completed in a timely manner, and all work crews were professional, prompt, courteous, and cleaned up all their work as each step in the process was completed.

We very much appreciated the involvement by John and Allen in guiding us through this somewhat traumatic experience.
We were more than pleased with the results, we were simply ecstatic as to how it all came out. Our home has a complete new look to it with all new, modern and very stylish materials used to enhance the over-all appearance. There were many crews out in our neighborhood this past summer, and many homes had similar work done. Our neighbors all made very positive comments regarding how well our new home now looks, and how well our crew worked to make this a pleasing and comfortable experience for us.
We would certainly look to Premier once again for any of our home repair or remodeling needs.

Our whole neighborhood was severely damaged by the May 2008 hail storm (our house had damage to the roof, siding, deck, and windows). We met with many contractors, many local and some from out-of-town, to discuss how best to handle our claim before we contacted our insurance company. We decided that it was best to choose a contractor to represent us and meet the insurance company at our home. We chose John and Allen Labatt from Premier to repair our home and work with our insurance company because of the confidence they instilled in us that they had the insurance industry knowledge to handle the claim.

I am happy to recommend Premier Home Improvement. After a hail storm this summer, we had numerous offers from different contractors. John and Allen Labatt were in the neighborhood and stopped by one afternoon to introduce themselves and take a look at the house.

After talking with them for a while, they seemed honest and professional so we decided to use them for all of our storm damage. We had no previous knowledge of Premier Home Improvement, so we were a little skeptical about what we were getting into. Now, after the entire process is finished, we are very pleased with the choice we made.

I contacted my insurance adjuster to setup a time to look at the house. John and Allen were here when the adjuster arrived and did a very thorough job of going through all of the damage to the house. The adjuster agreed with all the damage that John and Allen pointed out, and we ended up getting money for a new roof, all new siding, and new garage doors, along with some other smaller items.

Shortly after receiving out first payment from the insurance company, Premier Home Improvement had someone here working on the house. A couple weeks later we had a new roof and siding, and the house looked like new again. They then came back to meet with us and take care of any concerns we may have had with the work that was done.

The Labatts are very honest and friendly people to work with, and we would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Chad Ricksham, of Premier Home Improvement has conducted the following improvement/remodeling work on my home:
Built a 24 x 14 maintenance-free deck. My family loves it!
Built a concrete patio with retaining wall which wraps around my garage.
Finished my basement ceiling, which is a two-tone knock down.
Laquer-sprayed my ¾” black ash tongue and groove in my basement (with that kind of material cost, I needed a professional!)
Re-sided two sides of my house following a hail storm (which included re-structuring the poor workmanship of the original framing company).

I chose John Labatt from Premier Home Improvement to handle my claim on the recent hail damage (late May 2008) after talking to several other companies. John was very professional and knowledgeable. My confidence was rewarded with the excellent workmanship his crews provided for my roof, siding, & gutters. He also replaced my door and remote opener & rebuilt my entire deck. Everything is terrific. John also re-negotiated my original claim with the insurance adjuster because they were not paying enough for the repairs. I highly recommend Premier Home Improvement, LLC. I would like to offer the highest recommendation for John and Allen Labatt. Last year, after a storm destroyed the roofs of EVERY home in my neighborhood, I contacted our insurance company and asked them to take a look at our roof. The adjuster came out promptly, and after a quick look at our roof told me that it was in "fine shape with 5 to 7 more years life left, but the siding took a quite a beating", and he offered to re-stain the house.

I was pleased to hear a "professional" tell me my roof had no damage and that I would be getting a fresh coat of stain, but after a few days, I was troubled by the fact that all my neighbors had the same age and material roofs and they NEEDED to be replaced.

The Labatts were driving through our development to talk with another client when they noticed that our roof was not being replaced and offered to take a look at it no charge - no catch. I explained that I had already been denied by my adjuster, and they offered to make an impartial inspection with their own roofing professional stating that if they thought it needed to be replaced, they would take care of everything with our insurance company if we let them have the job.

Of course, I was a bit leery of letting someone unsolicited take a look at my roof (as I've heard the horror stories of unscrupulous contractors), but something about them inspired my confidence, and I am glad I let them take a look. They found significant damage to the shingles, gutters, vents, EVERYTHING.

I contacted my insurance company, asked for a second inspection, and they sent out someone shortly. The Labatts were on hand during that inspection, and as this inspector found damage, we assumed that it would be approved, but we were again denied. At this point, the Labatts took over all negotiations with the insurance company. After two more inspections and months of stall tactics, a new roof was finally approved, as well as the re-staining.

Every aspect of the process, from accurately measuring the roof and estimating the cost, to pulling permits and final inspection, was professionally handled. Of note, the quality of materials, the quality of craftsmanship and the professionalism of their crew impressed us, as we had observed less then stellar service from some of our neighbors' crews.

I can honestly say that we would not have a new roof if not for the Labatts thorough understanding of the insurance industry, and how to successfully negotiate to a satisfactory resolution. We felt as if we were the most important clients they were servicing at the time, and they delivered on EVERY promise they made.

We have had so many positive comments on the look of our house.

We are very pleased with Side by Side's performance when they replaced our siding and gutters at our home in Elk River, MN. Our house was on the market at the time we hired them for the job so time was of the essence.

The job took a total of one week from the time we wrote the check for the deposit to the time the dumpster was removed from our driveway. The crews were considerate and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves when they were finished.

John Labatt deserves special recognition for all the additional time that he spent dealing with our insurance company to make sure that all the expenses were covered. He was also patient as we dealt with our mortgage company to release our insurance money from an escrow account after their inspector confirmed the completed project.

John,

I wanted to thank you once again for all the help you provided and the work you have done on my home to repair the hail damage.  Everything turned out even better then I had expected.  As I had told you, I was getting all kinds of calls and people knocking at my door who had crews that came from all over the country chasing storms.  It was nice to be able to use a local company that would be there after the job was completed, just in case something had come up.  The entire project was done quickly and professionally.  It was just as you had promised.

It was also nice to see someone who would actually work side by side with my insurance adjuster.  You found damage that neither he nor I was able to see until you pointed it out. That sure helped make things go a lot smoother, as everything was able to get completed at one time, without having to go back to my insurance company again later.
